At a reputable sanctuary, animals have the opportunity to roam, forage, climb, and play in vast habitats and receive the quality care that they deserve. Please make the compassionate decision to allow the animals at your facility to spend the remainder of their lives at a sanctuary, in naturalistic habitats that are suited to their needs. Thank you for your time and consideration.
PETA is a joke, they think if it's not government controlled, it's a bad thing. If they gave humans as much love and attention we would live in much better nation. I saw nothing of abuse or neglect. Did they notice their bigger play places in the back. I believe the animals are very well taken care of. I have seen monkeys and other animals at zoo's with the same behavior. I think these animals are better taken care of then some zoo's.
Summer 2017: There are valid reasons PETA has been investigating conditions! Google and find more.
My family and I go every year. Love the place. The owners are very nice and friendly!
I’m writing to urge you to retire the animals at Maple Lane Wildlife Farm to reputable sanctuaries. The needs of many of the animals at the facility are not being met, from monkeys who are biting and hitting themselves in frustration to tigers who are forced to live inside tiny cages on concrete and are showing signs of foot and joint problems. Other animals can’t even escape from the rain or hot sun. Maple Lane clearly can’t or won’t provide them with the space and care that they need.
Absolutely disgusting. I went there a couple months ago and I noticed an adult macaw in a very small cage with no toys and a small water dish. I asked the owner. "Does he come out" "Only during certain months, he can't come out until the season is over" What? The parrot was clearly suffering psychological issues. It was pulling it's feather out and was aimlessly going up and down the small cage. Horrible place.
A keen eye will take note of a lack of safety precautions to prevent workers, visitors, and animals from injury. Primate cages are absent of enrichment, so monkeys chew on their feet and are bored. Bears lack shade, except for the option of hiding in literal boxes in the high heat of summer, so instead they pace and look desperately for something to do and some way of escaping boredom and heat. Feed tubes enable visitors to provide feed completely inappropriate for species - such as fruit and vegetables to carnivores. Many animals are subjected to living behind steel bars with concrete floors, lacking any natural elements but for a log here or there. Animals are being bred annually to produce more babies to be subjected to substandard living conditions - or worse - sold at exotic animal auctions like objects. Children (literally children, age 7 or so) check in visitors, and offer no receipts of purchase or adult guidance.
